Overview

What's in your products? Toxnot helps you automatically survey your suppliers and incorporate their data into your Products and Materials library.

Getting Started

You can choose from three types of surveys:

  • Supplier-level surveys - Request general supplier information, such as manufacturing or operational data, using a questionnaire.
  • Product/Material-specific surveys - Request BOM information, including substance information or a questionnaire, for products or materials chosen by you.
  • Open BOM surveys - Request BOM information, including substance information or a questionnaire, for products or materials chosen by the supplier.

When you send a survey to a supplier, they receive an email requesting that they respond to your survey in Toxnot. Suppliers have free access to Toxnot, and their response is for your eyes only.

Product/Material-Specific Surveys

Choose a product- or material-specific survey when you wish to receive supplier information for products or materials already in your library. 

To send a specific-BOM survey, navigate to Suppliers, open a supplier, select your materials/products to request, and click Create Survey:

When designing the survey request you have several options:

  • Add a Supplier-level Questionnaire (optional) to request supplier-related information which you can merge into your supplier data.
  • Select BOM Fields (required) which the supplier will be asked to provide spreadsheet data for. You can toggle whether these fields are required for the supplier.
  • Add a BOM-level Questionnaire (optional) through which the supplier can answer material-related questions for each BOM you requested.
  • CC Emails (optional) who will be included on the initial survey request. CC email addresses are useful to include a a contact at your organization whom the supplier will recognize.
  • Request Instructions (optional) to introduce and clarify your request, such as how the data will be used and the due date for the data. These instructions appear in your request email, during survey activation, and directly to the supplier as they complete the survey.
  • Completion Instructions (optional) which will appear to the supplier when they have completed all required fields in the survey request. You can include a brief thank-you, follow-up and next-steps instructions, or nothing at all.

When you're ready to go, click Send Surveys and you're all set! You'll receive email notifications as the supplier receives, activates, and responds to your survey, and you can see the status of all of your surveys when you navigate to Surveys. 

If you're not ready to send the survey, you can always Save Draft Surveys which you can return to at any time in the Surveys dashboard.

Supplier-level Surveys

Choose a supplier-level survey when you wish a supplier to respond to a questionnaire that you've designed. You'll need at least one questionnaire to get started with supplier-level surveys; learn more about designing and using questionnaires in Questionnaires.

Creating a supplier-level survey is a cinch - navigate to Suppliers, select one or more suppliers, and click Create Survey. Then choose "Create Supplier Survey":

Within the survey request, you'll choose a questionnaire for your supplier to fill out, and optional messages:

  • CC Emails (optional) who will be included on the initial survey request. CC email addresses are useful to include as a contact at your organization whom the supplier will recognize.
  • Request Instructions (optional) to introduce and clarify your request, as needed. These instructions appear in your request email, during survey activation, and directly to he supplier as they complete the survey.

Open BOM Surveys

Choose an open BOM survey when you wish a supplier to respond with information about one or more materials they provide, but which you do not specify. You can clarify your request for material information in a custom message in the survey request.

To create an open BOM survey, navigate to Suppliers, select one or more suppliers, and click Create Survey. Then click "Create Open BOM Survey":

Verifying your Email with Toxnot

By default, survey request emails generated in Toxnot are sent using the support@toxnot.com email address. Often, it's useful to send the request directly - the supplier will recognize your email as a customer, and they can reach out to you directly with compliance questions for your requested information.

You can verify your email address with Toxnot so that survey requests you send will come directly from your email. 

To verify your email, navigate to your Profile and click Send Verification Email:

You will receive an email containing an activation link, and you will have 24 hours to verify your email address. Upon verification, new survey requests will come from your email address via Amazon Web Services, the simple email service which Toxnot uses.
